Assistant Operations Officer

Maj. Lee Avery
Bio: Maj. Avery joined the Civil Air Patrol as a cadet in June 1978. In only four years, he advanced all the way through the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program, earning the highest cadet award, the Gen. Carl A. Spaatz Award and the grade of Cadet Colonel in May of 1982.
Currently, in addition to his position as the Assistant Operations Officer at the Hawk Composite Squadron, he is a member of the New Hampshire Wing Finance Committee. Previously, Maj. Avery held the positions of NH Wing Flight Operations Officer, Director of Operations and Assistant Finance Officer.
Maj. Avery holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, Airplane Single-Engine Land (ASEL), Airplane Multi-Engine Land (AMEL) as well as a Commercial Pilot Certificate for both Airplane Single-Engine Sea (ASES) and Rotorcraft-Helicopter. He holds aircraft type ratings in a Beech 300 King Air, Beechjet 400A and a Hawker 800. In addition to his pilot ratings, he is also an FAA Certified Flight Instructor for ASEL, AMEL, Instrument and Rotorcraft-Helicopter and an FAA Ground Instructor Certificate, Advanced and Instrument. Maj. Avery has approximately 9,500 hours of total flight time and 4,500 of flight instruction given and holds the CAP ratings of Mission Pilot and Instructor Pilot.
In Maj. Avery's professional and personal career, he has been the Owner/Manager of Sky Bright Aviation since 1988. Prior to that he was the Chief Financial Officer at Annalee Dolls. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Plymouth State University (Class of 1983). Maj. Avery is also the past president of the Moultonboro Snowmobile Club.

Maj. J. Scott Davis
Maj. Scott Davis joined Civil Air Patrol in 2008. He is currently the Hawk Squadron's Assistant Emergency Services Training Officer and Assistant Emergency Services Officer. He also serves at the squadron's Cadet Orientation Pilot coordinator, helping cadets get their much desired powered-flight orientation flights.
Capt. Davis started flying when he was in high school. After high school, he went on to attend Norwich University in Vermont and graduated with a BSCE. While at Norwich he flew with the Aero Club and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and flew more with the Aero Club while he was stationed in the U.S.
Maj. Davis worked as project manager for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and developed the state's Pavement Management Program. After retirement in 2004, he worked at the Laconia Municipal Airport (LCI) as the project manager for the runway expansion projects. While involved with the expansion projects at LCI, he started flying again and joined the Civil Air Patrol. Maj. Davis is a Private Pilot with an Airplane Single-Engine Land- Instrument Rating and is currently studying for his FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate.
