Membership Application Procedures for the Hawk Composite Squadron
Come visit us anytime during a Squadron Meeting at 60 Airport Road, Gilford, NH 03249 Gate "B" (Skyrider's Hanger) from 6:30-9:00 pm to see what we have to offer you.
We will be glad to show you what we are all about.
Cadet Applicants (Ages 12-18)
Prospective cadets have the option to apply for Civil Air Patrol membership online**. To start the application process, the prospective cadet is encouraged to attend an Open House but must attend at least 3 weekly cadet meetings before applying. At the Open House, the Squadron Commander or his representative will meet with parents and the prospective cadet to answer any questions. There are also many opportunities to meet with other cadets and senior staff at an Open House. Not to mention the Aerospace Education, Honor Guard, Emergency Services and Communication equipment and even a Civil Air Patrol aircraft! Attending the three meetings allows the cadet a chance to see our program in action and decide if CAP is right for them. After the third meeting, the unit commander will give the applicant a code for the online application. Parents and cadets may then go online and complete the membership application by clicking the button below labeled, "Apply Online for Civil Air Patrol Cadet Membership." National Membership dues ($46) will be required at the time of electronic application (payable by credit card). Once the application is complete, it is electronically sent to the unit commander for review. The commander will then set up a meeting with the new cadet and parents welcoming them to the squadron. Proof of identity in accordance with CAP regulations must be provided to the Squadron Commander and annual squadron dues will also be collected. Squadron dues are $36 or pro-rated $3/month until October when annual dues are collected from all cadets. Checks should be made payable to NH Wing Civil Air Patrol.
**Paper applications for cadets may also be used if paying by check or if you do not wish to apply online. Two file types have been posted below (MS Word and PDF) in case you are unable to open one of the file types, you can try the other. The form should be filled out, printed, and signed by the cadet. The completed form must be brought to the squadron at a weekly Thursday meeting for the Unit Commander, (or his representative) to review and sign. If paying by check please make one check payable to National Headquarters Civil Air Patrol for $42 (National Membership Dues) and a separate check made payable to NH Wing Civil Air Patrol for pro-rated ($3 per month) Squadron Dues.
Cadets are required to wear either ABU uniform or Dress Blue Uniform once they become a member. A limited supply of uniforms are available through squadron supply, or purchase through an army/navy supplier. ABU uniforms may be purchased through an army/navy supplier or through Vanguard, Civil Air Patrol's only approved retailer of merchandise. A voucher to offset the cost of one set of U.S.A.F. Blues will be provided after the cadet has completed their Curry achievement.
Prospective cadets with questions may contact the Squadron Commander Col William Moran or see the Cadet Programs page of this website (click here).
